Zagori in slavic means “The place behind the mountains” and this is exactly where this workshop is taking place. In a relatively unknown part of Europe away from tourists and distractions Zagori awaits to be explored by true adventurers. Surrounded by mountains with jagged peaks above 2000m and a variety of vegetation ranging from low bush to huge centenarian trees this area, riddled with tiny picturesque villages, stone bridges and rivers is Greece’s best hidden secret. 

The workshop will be based in the central Zagori region at the village of Tsepelovo but we will be exploring both east central and west sides of this vast area. Winter in the Greek mountains is pretty diverse and snow is usually expected in late January till mid of March. This being the reason why this workshop is taking place in that period. The second reason is that we get to have this place to ourselves. Greek people visit the mountains during the holidays and people from abroad don’t know this place exists. So if it is privacy you are after and a quiet workshop with fabulous winter sceneries then this is the right one for you.  Even though the high passes of the mountains are closed due to snow coverage the rest of the paths are open and the rivers filled with water a sight that the summer visitor rarely gets to see. If we are lucky to get snow during the period of the workshop the scenery is transformed and the whole experience from unique becomes extraordinary.  

However seeing great and impressive vistas aren’t a goal of the workshop. I want people to be creative, to have the chance to think outside the box in an area that needs to be explored in order to reveal its secrets and also bring out your true photographic self. With everything being taken care of, transportation, accommodation, meals, all that is required of you is relax, be open to the stimuli emerging from the land and dare to look deep within. Be in tune with nature and with the help of our guidance find your unique vision and style. The schedule is structured to maximize our time spent in nature and our opportunity to create meaningful images and also time to improve on your skills both during the sessions and after while post processing. Konstantinos Vasilakis is a local to the area, knows it like the back of his hand and his assistance in everything photography is related and more will be given freely should you require it.
